The campaign is aimed at educating motorists the importance of not texting while driving. More specifically, Michael’s goal is to educate his peers the importance of the “No Text Zone”.

“In the race car I communicate with my crew chief and spotter nearly constantly. It’s hands-free in the race car, and it should be hands-free in a passenger car”, states Michael.

Technology has a responsibility. We need a call to action to stop texting while driving. No text is that important that you put everyone driving around you at risk. People die because of their lack of knowledge, the conversation can wait don’t risk your life. Put the phone in the glove box until you get to your destination or pull over.

Fact, texting & driving is as dangerous as driving drunk. Everyone thinks they can drive while on the phone or texting. It cannot be done safely! Please put the cell phone down and drive!

From a survey conducted by Liberty Mutual completed by 2,351 teens in the 11th & 12th grades:

86% talk on the phone while driving
12% thinks it is a major distraction
76% say they sometimes text & drive
33% say they text often while driving

More than ½ the time they are
texting their parents!
